#84: Natural Birthing With Chanel Hogue

Welcome back to The New Mom Boss Podcast! In this episode, I’m joined by Chanel Hogue, a wife, mama of two, Birth Doula, Virtual Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Lactation Educator.

Chanel believes women should experience the empowering and beautiful birth they deserve the first time. By providing education, resources, and support, she helps to prepare mamas to have a birth that is beautiful, pain-free, uninterrupted and empowering.

In our conversation, she tells us about her birth experiences - how her first birth went from induced labor to an emergency C-section. After experiencing a much different and natural birth the second time around, she realized that pain and fear don’t need to be a part of every birth story.

Some big takeaways are:

1. When creating a birth plan, consider different birthing scenarios.
2. Learn to advocate for yourself with your providers.
3. Birth does not have to be full of fear and pain! If you expect that though, it will probably happen.

We also discuss her tips for new mamas when crafting their birth plans, advocating for a gentle cesarean, and the many differences in giving birth in a hospital versus a birthing center.
